Everything you need to know about SEMRĀ.
About SEMRĀ
What makes SEMRĀ different?
SEMRĀ is artist-designed and industry-built. Every piece is created by a professional gemologist and jewelry designer with over 25 years of Diamond District experience — not by a marketing team or outsourced factory. The designs come from an artist's eye, but the execution comes from insider-level technical knowledge. It's a rare combination.
Where is SEMRĀ based?
SEMRĀ is based in New York City. Our studio and production are rooted in the Diamond District, where the founder has worked for over two decades.

Is SEMRĀ a sustainable brand?
We believe in thoughtful luxury. We work exclusively with lab-grown diamonds, which have a significantly lower environmental impact than mined stones. We produce made-to-order, avoiding overproduction and waste. And we design pieces meant to last generations, not seasons.
Lab-Grown Diamonds
Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds. They have the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance, and the same fire. The only difference is origin: lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled environments rather than extracted from the earth.
Can you tell the difference between lab-grown and mined diamonds?
Not with the naked eye or even a jeweler's loupe. Lab-grown and mined diamonds are visually indistinguishable. Only specialized laboratory equipment can detect the subtle differences in growth patterns that indicate a stone's origin.
Why does SEMRĀ use lab-grown diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds offer the same beauty without the environmental and ethical concerns of mining. They're the intelligent choice for modern luxury — better for the world, better value for you, with no compromise on brilliance. It's simply a smarter way to own a diamond.
Do lab-grown diamonds hold their value?
Like all diamonds, lab-grown stones are not typically investment vehicles. Their value lies in their beauty, durability, and meaning. That said, the secondary market for lab-grown diamonds is still developing. We believe jewelry should be bought for love, not speculation.
Ordering
How long does it take to receive my order?
SEMRĀ pieces are made to order. Please allow 2–3 weeks for production, plus 3–5 business days for shipping within the United States. Bespoke commissions follow their own timeline, typically 6–12 weeks depending on complexity.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to select international destinations. International orders typically arrive within 7–14 business days. Customers are responsible for any duties, taxes, or customs fees. Please contact us before ordering to confirm shipping availability to your location.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay. For bespoke commissions, we require a 50% deposit to begin work, with the balance due before delivery.
Can I cancel or modify my order?
Because pieces are made to order, we cannot cancel or modify orders once production has begun. Please contact us immediately if you need to make changes — we'll do our best to accommodate if work hasn't started.
Sizing & Fit
How do I find my ring size?
The most accurate method is to visit a local jeweler for professional sizing. If that's not possible, you can measure a ring you already own (inside diameter in millimeters) or use an at-home ring sizer. When in doubt, size up slightly — it's easier to size down than up.
Can rings be resized?
Most SEMRĀ rings can be resized within 1–2 sizes up or down. Some designs with intricate details or channel-set stones have limitations. We offer one complimentary resize within 30 days of purchase. Contact us with questions about a specific design.
What necklace lengths do you offer?
Our standard necklace lengths are 16", 18", and 20". Custom lengths are available for bespoke orders. If you need a specific length for a collection piece, please contact us before ordering.
Bespoke Commissions
What is the bespoke process?
It begins with a consultation to discuss your vision, budget, and timeline. From there, we create sketches and CAD renderings, refine the design together, source stones, and begin production. The full process typically takes 6–12 weeks from first conversation to delivery. Learn more on ourBespoke page.
How much does bespoke cost?
Every commission is unique, so pricing depends on design complexity, materials, and stone selection. As a general guide: engagement rings start at $5,000, wedding bands at $1,500, signature pieces at $3,500, and heirloom redesigns at $2,500. We provide a detailed quote before any work begins.
Can you recreate a design I've seen elsewhere?
We don't copy other designers' work. However, we can discuss what you love about a particular design and create something original that captures those elements while being uniquely yours.
Can you use my existing stones or gold?
Absolutely. We specialize in reimagining heirloom pieces. Whether you have inherited diamonds, a vintage ring that's not your style, or stones you've collected, we can design a new setting that gives them new life. Contact us to discuss your project.
Returns & Service
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery for collection pieces in unworn, original condition with all packaging. Bespoke commissions and sale items are final sale. See our full Shipping & Returns policy for details.
Do you offer repairs?
Yes. We service all SEMRĀ pieces and can often assist with jewelry from other makers as well. Services include cleaning, polishing, prong retipping, resizing, and chain repair. Contact us to arrange service.
Is there a warranty?
SEMRĀ pieces are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the piece. Normal wear, damage from impact or chemicals, and alterations by other jewelers are not covered. We stand behind our work — if something isn't right, contact us.
