Our Story

SEMRĀ is a contemporary fine jewelry brand shaped by decades of hands-on experience in jewelry, gemology, manufacturing, and design, with roots in New York's Diamond District, where much of our jewelry production continues today.

Behind SEMRĀ are Semra Aydemir and Yehuda Gluck, whose complementary expertise brings together the technical, gemological, and creative sides of fine jewelry.

Semra has more than 25 years of experience in the jewelry industry, spanning manufacturing, quality control, retail, custom jewelry, CAD, and design. She spent 15 years as a quality control manager in jewelry manufacturing, developing an in-depth understanding of metals, construction, setting, finishing, and the details that determine how well a piece is made.

Yehuda is a gemologist with more than 30 years of experience in diamonds and fine jewelry, with deep roots in New York's Diamond District. His expertise in diamonds and gemstones—from quality and proportion to selection and value—is complemented by his experience in jewelry and design.

Our Approach

How We Work

Designed from the Inside Out

We believe jewelry should be considered as a complete object, not simply as an image. Semra and Yehuda design together, moving between stones, sketches, CAD, and construction. They consider how a stone should sit, how a setting should be built, where strength is needed, how much metal is necessary, and how the finished piece will feel when worn. Many of these details may never be obvious at first glance, but they make a difference in how a piece looks, feels, and lasts. For us, those decisions are not separate from design. They are design.

Made to Order

SEMRĀ jewelry is primarily made to order, giving us greater flexibility in stone selection, proportions, metals, and individual details. Our collections express our design point of view, but many pieces can be personalized. We also create custom jewelry and redesign existing pieces, working with clients from the initial idea through CAD development and production. While our showroom is located in Monroe, New York, our connection to New York's jewelry industry remains an active part of how we work. Much of our production continues in New York's Diamond District, through manufacturing relationships and expertise developed over decades. SEMRĀ is the design-led fine jewelry brand of GemGenius, our established jewelry business and showroom. Clients are welcome to visit us in Monroe by appointment to see jewelry and diamonds, discuss a custom project, or explore new possibilities for jewelry they already own.

The Studio

Jewelry is at the center of SEMRĀ, but our creative practice extends beyond it. Semra's background in art, including studies at the Art Students League of New York, influences her approach to form, proportion, texture, and experimentation. Selected original works from her studio practice are also available through SEMRĀ. Fine jewelry remains at the heart of SEMRĀ—built on experience, shaped by knowledge, and defined by design.

Materials

Diamonds & Materials

The jewelry and prices shown on our website are based primarily on lab-grown diamonds. They allow us greater freedom in scale and design while offering a wider range of price points.

SEMRĀ is not limited to lab-grown diamonds. Natural diamonds are available by request, and we can source natural or lab-grown diamonds according to a client's preferences, specifications, and budget.

We also work with precious metals and selected gemstones, choosing materials according to each design.
