Care Guide
Fine jewelry, made to last. Here's how to keep it that way.
Everyday Care
SEMRĀ pieces are designed for daily wear — but a little care goes a long way. Fine jewelry is resilient, not indestructible. With proper attention, your pieces will maintain their beauty for generations.
The simplest rule: put your jewelry on last, take it off first. Apply lotions, perfumes, and cosmetics before wearing your pieces, and remove them before activities that involve chemicals, impact, or moisture.
Wear
Remove jewelry before swimming, exercising, cleaning, or sleeping. Chlorine, salt water, and household chemicals can damage gold and affect diamond brilliance.
Store
Keep pieces in their SEMRĀ box or a soft pouch when not worn. Store items separately to prevent scratching — even diamonds can scratch other diamonds.
Clean
Gently clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth. For deeper cleaning, see below.
Inspect
Periodically check prongs and settings for wear. If a stone feels loose or a prong looks bent, stop wearing the piece and contact us.
Caring for Gold
SEMRĀ pieces are crafted in 18K gold — a beautiful, durable alloy that develops a subtle patina with wear. This is natural and part of the character of fine jewelry.
- Clean regularly with mild soap and warm water
- Avoid harsh chemicals
- bleach
- and chlorine
- Polish gently with a soft jewelry cloth
- Professional polishing can restore original luster if desired
Minor scratches are normal with daily wear. They can be polished out by a professional jeweler, or left to develop the soft patina that comes with a well-loved piece.
Caring for Lab-Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds. They require the same care — and reward it with the same brilliance.
- Diamonds attract oil and dust — clean regularly to maintain sparkle
- Use a soft brush to clean around and beneath the stone
- Ultrasonic cleaners are generally safe
- but check your setting first
- Avoid impact — diamonds are hard
- but they can chip if struck at the right angle
Deep Cleaning at Home
For a thorough clean, soak your piece in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 20–30 minutes. Gently brush with a soft toothbrush, paying attention to the back of the setting where oils collect. Rinse under warm running water (with the drain closed), and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
